Dr. Michael Moldover presenting at the Separation & Sensing Workshop
Earlier this month over 35 attendees from more than 15 companies attended a half-day Separations and Sensing Industry workshop. The workshop showcased research from the LNG Futures research group and sought to introduce engineers to the research being undertaken at UWA; and to facilitate industry-led feedback to better target future research.
Researchers from the group presented their research on gas separations, NMR and raman spectroscopy fields. This included work on novel, and world-leading processes for separation of methane and nitrogen and updates on prototypes under development for oil in water analysis and multi-phase flowmeters for subsea application.
The guest speaker at the workshop was Dr. Michael Moldover of the American National Institute of Standards and Testing (NIST). Dr. Moldover has a distinguished and highly-awarded career (over 40 years’) measuring the thermophysical properties of fluids to solve scientific and engineering problems and to improve standards of temperature, pressure, and flow. His presentation was titled “Challenges and New Approaches to Monitoring Flue Gas Emissions” outlining his recent work in this area.
On conclusion of the workshop more than attendees had the opportunity to tour the Gas Processing Laboratories at ARRC.
Continuing with our Industry- focused research the group will host a Flow Assurance Industry Workshop on the 10th November 2016. Another Separation and Sensing Workshop is planned for 2017.
