Saif’s presentation was titled “High Pressure Thermophysical Properties of Complex Mixtures Relevant to LNG Processing” and presented a range of results from the Thermophysics group within the LNG Futures and Fluid Science & Resources group at UWA.
The research focussed on measuring accurate thermophysical property data for LNG mixtures. Specifically the presentation focussed on heat capacity, viscosity and surface tension experiments. The improved empirical data allows for more accurate modelling of LNG processes than is currently available in industry. This lack of data can lead to overdesign of equipment by as much as 15%. Furthermore more accurate fluid properties enables better optimisation of existing LNG operations.
The conference was held in London the 16-17th February 2017. The ICTFDFM 2017: 19th International Conference on Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics and Fluid Mechanics aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results about all aspects of Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics and Fluid Mechanics. It also provides the premier interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns, practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted in the field of Thermodynamics, Fluid Dynamics and Fluid Mechanics.
